Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our Sea Hunt 172 Triton covers are custom-patterned specifically for this model's hull profile and deck configuration — the 17'2" LOA, 7'6" beam, modified-V hull, center console with helm station, forward casting deck, and aft cockpit with live well and fish box. The pattern accounts for every contour so the cover fits snugly without bunching around the console or leaving gaps at the bow.
Since the 172 Triton is an open center console with no T-top frame, the cover wraps over the entire boat as one continuous piece from bow to stern. It attaches along the rubrail and gunwale using stainless-steel snaps, adjustable straps, and an elastic hem cord that holds the bottom edge snug against the hull. A support pole system prevents water from pooling on the flat areas of the cover, particularly over the open cockpit.
The cover is one single continuous piece of fabric — it doesn't stop at the transom. The fabric extends past the transom and drapes loosely over the single outboard engine (up to 135 HP) as part of the same cover, then gathers and cinches at the bottom with straps. The engine is completely hidden under the fabric — you can't see the cowling shape at all. Only the lower unit shaft is visible below. There is no separate engine boot or engine cover to deal with.
Our covers extend well below the chine — the widest point of the hull where it transitions from the vertical sides to the V-bottom. On the 172 Triton, only a thin 6–10 inch strip of the curved V-bottom hull is visible below the cover's bottom edge. When trailered, the cover's bottom edge sits level with the top of the trailer tires, and tie-down straps secure it to the trailer frame for a tight, wind-resistant fit.
Absolutely. At just 17'2" with a 7'6" beam and roughly 1,300 pounds dry weight, the 172 Triton is one of the easiest boats in the Sea Hunt lineup to cover solo. The compact size means the cover itself is lightweight and very manageable for one person. Most owners have the cover fully installed and secured in under 10 minutes once they're familiar with the snap and strap locations.
Yes. Inshore anglers commonly add bow-mount trolling motors, Power-Poles, jack plates, and upgraded electronics to the 172 Triton. During the ordering process, you'll specify any aftermarket additions and our team adjusts the pattern to accommodate these modifications. This ensures the cover fits properly without putting stress on protruding accessories or leaving gaps around them.
With proper care, our covers typically last 7–10 years in harsh saltwater and sun environments like the Gulf Coast, Florida marshes, and the Carolina Lowcountry — exactly the shallow-water environments where the 172 Triton excels. Both our 9 oz marine canvas and Sunbrella options use solution-dyed fibers that resist UV fading and mildew growth. We recommend rinsing the cover with fresh water after heavy salt exposure and allowing it to dry fully before folding.
A center console mooring cover is a full-boat protective cover that wraps over the entire vessel — bow to stern and down the hull sides — during storage or trailering. Unlike a bimini top (which only provides shade while underway) or a T-top cover (which attaches to a hardtop frame), a CC mooring cover has no overhead structure to clip onto. It relies on snaps along the gunwale, internal support poles for water shedding, and adjustable straps to deliver complete coverage of the boat, console, and engine as one continuous piece of fabric.
Both are excellent marine-grade options. The 9 oz canvas is our most popular choice — heavy-duty, tightly woven, with excellent water resistance, UV protection, and breathability at a great price point. It carries a 5-year fabric warranty. Sunbrella is the premium option offering superior fade resistance and longevity with a 6-year warranty, often preferred by owners who store their boats in extreme sun climates like South Florida or the Texas coast. Both are solution-dyed so the color goes all the way through the fiber and won't bleed onto your gel coat.
Select your Sea Hunt 172 Triton from our product page, choose your preferred fabric (9 oz canvas or Sunbrella) and color, then note any aftermarket accessories during checkout. Each cover is built to order using your boat's specific pattern and model year. Typical production time is 2–4 weeks depending on volume. Your cover ships with everything needed for installation — stainless-steel snaps, adjustable straps, support poles for water shedding, and step-by-step installation instructions. No additional hardware purchases required.

Sea Hunt 172 Triton Boat Cover — Custom-Fitted Center Console Protection

The Sea Hunt 172 Triton is a compact but capable inshore fishing machine — a 17’2″ all-composite center console with a 7’6″ beam, 16-degree deadrise, and an 11-inch draft that lets you sneak into skinny water where bigger boats can’t follow. Our custom-patterned cover is built specifically for the 172 Triton’s hull profile, center console layout, and open cockpit design — delivering a tight fit that sheds water cleanly and protects every surface between trips.

Unlike universal covers that bunch around the console or leave the bow exposed, our 172 Triton cover follows the boat’s exact contours from stem to stern. The result is clean coverage with no wind-catching slack, no pooling pockets, and no gaps where rain, salt spray, or debris can reach your electronics, upholstery, or gel coat. For the full Sea Hunt lineup, view all Sea Hunt boat covers.

Why the Sea Hunt 172 Triton Needs a Custom Cover

With a single outboard rated up to 135 HP, a 32-gallon fuel tank, and a shallow draft perfect for creek fishing and flats work, the 172 Triton lives in some of the most punishing coastal environments — salt marshes, tidal creeks, oyster bars, and sun-baked trailer lots. That constant exposure to UV, salt spray, humidity, and airborne debris takes a toll on everything from the console gauges to the cockpit upholstery and gel coat finish.

At roughly 1,300 pounds dry weight, the 172 Triton is one of the most trailerable boats in the Sea Hunt lineup — it often lives in driveways, garage bays, and open storage lots between trips. A properly fitted cover is the single most effective way to slow UV oxidation on the hull, prevent mildew from forming on the cockpit cushions, and stop corrosion on exposed stainless hardware. Owners who cover their boats consistently see significantly better resale values and lower annual maintenance costs.

Built for the Sea Hunt Triton 172 Layout

Every cover we produce for the 172 Triton is patterned around the boat’s open center console layout: the forward casting deck with bow storage, the center console with helm station, and the aft cockpit with live well, fish box, and rod holders. The fabric follows the modified-V hull shape all the way below the chine to the rubrail, so water runs off instead of collecting.

We offer your choice of 9 oz marine-grade canvas — our most popular option — or premium Sunbrella fabric. Both are solution-dyed for maximum UV and fade resistance, meaning the color is locked into the fiber itself rather than applied to the surface. Each cover ships with stainless-steel snaps, adjustable straps, support poles, and complete installation hardware. If you fish similar inshore waters, check out the Sea Hunt 232 Triton T-Top cover for the larger Triton platform, or see the Sea Hunt 160 Triton center console cover for an even more compact Triton option.

How Our Covers Protect Your Investment

A custom-fitted mooring cover does more than keep leaves out of your boat. It preserves your resale value by shielding the gel coat from UV oxidation, prevents mildew from forming on the cockpit cushions and seating, and stops corrosion on exposed hardware and electronics. For a dedicated inshore fishing boat like the 172 Triton that sees constant salt exposure and extended outdoor storage, that protection translates directly into lower maintenance costs and a longer hull life.
