Twin F300 cowlings are among the largest single outboard cowlings Sea Hunt pairs on any model. Our cover's rear pouch is patterned for this wide twin-engine transom, creating one continuous loose fabric drape that envelops both cowlings together. The pouch hangs baggy and shapeless — you cannot make out the cowling profiles through the fabric. Cinch straps at the bottom gather the fabric below the lower units, and the entire pouch connects to the main cover as one piece with no seam or gap at the transom.
The head compartment is a sealed console-mounted enclosure, so its plumbing is independent of the cover. What matters for odor prevention is airflow, and our T-top mooring cover is specifically designed for that. The T-top roof stays exposed above the cover, creating a continuous ventilation channel at the roof line. Humid air escapes upward rather than condensing inside the head compartment or on interior surfaces. We recommend leaving the head compartment door slightly ajar during extended storage to let this airflow reach inside.
Yes. The entire helm station including the black acrylic dash panel, wireless charging pad, dual phone holders, and all mounted electronics sits below the T-top roof line where the cover attaches. The fabric drapes from the T-top frame without contacting the dash surface, so there is no abrasion against the acrylic finish or any mounted screens. The ventilation gap at the roof line also prevents condensation from forming on electronics during temperature swings between day and night.
At this size, yes — we recommend two people for efficient installation. The 28-foot-6-inch length and 9-foot-2-inch beam create a large fabric surface area that is difficult for one person to manage while also reaching across the full width. With two people working bow-to-stern, experienced owners report 15-20 minutes for a full install. One person positions and snaps while the other manages fabric tension on the opposite side. Removal is faster at about 10 minutes.
The tempered glass enclosure and its electric actuator window sit below the T-top attachment line, so they are fully enclosed and protected from UV, rain, and debris. The fabric does not rest on the glass because the T-top frame and console structure create clearance between the draping fabric and the glass panels. UV exposure is the primary enemy of electric actuator seals and gaskets over time, so keeping the enclosure covered between trips significantly extends the life of those components.
The 28 Escape has an aggressive hull shape — 20 degrees at the transom flattening to a very sharp 50-degree entry at the bow. This means the bow section is extremely narrow and V-shaped while the stern is wider and flatter. A full fuel load adds roughly 1,080 pounds and a full freshwater tank adds about 158 pounds, bringing the total well above 5,700 pounds dry. This changes tongue weight but does not affect cover fit because the cover attaches to the T-top frame above and trailer frame below, independent of hull weight. The extra weight actually stabilizes the trailer stance and reduces rocking in wind. We recommend keeping the boat level on the bunks regardless of fluid levels for the most even cover drape.
A T-top mooring cover hangs from the underside of the T-top roof and encloses the cockpit, helm, head compartment, and engines while leaving the hardtop exposed for ventilation. Full enclosures seal everything shut, which creates a greenhouse effect that traps heat, moisture, and odor inside. For a boat like the 28 Escape with an enclosed head compartment, freshwater plumbing, extensive electronics, and upholstered seating, that trapped moisture accelerates mildew, corrosion, and musty odors. Our open-roof design prevents all of it while still blocking UV, rain, and debris.
At 28 feet 6 inches with twin engines, the cover uses significantly more fabric than a 20-foot single-engine boat, making replacement a larger investment. Most 28 Escape owners choose Sunbrella for its longer UV life and colorfastness, which extends the replacement interval by several seasons. The 9-ounce marine canvas is still an excellent option at a lower price point, especially if the boat gets partial shade during storage. Both use identical reinforced stitching and stainless steel hardware.

The 28 Escape comes standard with an integrated fiberglass T-top and tempered glass enclosure, but aftermarket additions like outriggers, antenna mounts, spreader lights, or a radar dome on the roof affect clearance and should be mentioned when ordering.
