Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 28 Gamefish comes in two variants: the CB (Coffin Box) with a large center storage compartment in the deck, and the FS (Forward Seating) with bow seating instead. The CB weighs roughly 5,800 pounds dry while the FS runs closer to 6,800 pounds due to the additional seating structure. Our cover fits both configurations identically because the exterior hull dimensions, beam, and T-top frame are the same on both models. The differences are all at deck level, which sits well below the cover's drape line.
The 9-foot-9-inch beam on the 28 Gamefish matches the Gamefish 30 as the widest in Sea Hunt's fleet. Our cover uses proportionally wider fabric panels to maintain full chine-to-chine coverage on both sides. The wider beam creates a broader, flatter dome profile under the T-top rather than a peaked tent shape, which actually reduces wind resistance during storage. It also means this is a two-person installation — one person cannot comfortably reach across nearly 10 feet of beam while managing fabric tension.
Drain all three livewells completely: the 40-gallon in the leaning post, the 16-gallon at the transom, and the 15-gallon pitch bait well at the bow. Also drain both 200-quart in-floor fish boxes and rinse them with fresh water to remove bait residue. Standing water and organic matter generate bacteria and odor rapidly under a covered boat, especially in warm climates. Pull all drain plugs and leave livewell lids cracked during extended storage to let any residual moisture evaporate through the cover's roof ventilation.
Twin F300 cowlings are large V6 powerheads that create a wide, tall engine cluster at the transom. Our rear pouch is patterned specifically for this twin-engine width, creating one continuous loose fabric drape that envelops both cowlings together. The pouch is intentionally baggy — you cannot make out the individual cowling shapes through the fabric. Cinch straps gather the fabric at the bottom below the lower units. The pouch and main cover are one continuous piece with no seam or gap at the transom.
Yes. The Digital Command Link gauge cluster and all helm-mounted electronics sit on the console well below the T-top frame where the cover attaches. The cover fully encloses the helm area, shielding screens and gauges from direct UV, rain, salt spray, and debris. The fabric drapes from the T-top without contacting the console face, so there is no abrasion against display surfaces. The open T-top roof above creates airflow that prevents condensation from forming on electronics during overnight temperature drops.
Neither feature affects cover fit. The recessed trim tabs sit at the transom below the waterline, well below the cover's lower hem. We recommend retracting them to neutral before covering so the boat sits level on the trailer. The side entry doors are molded into the gunwale structure and sit inside the covered perimeter — the cover drapes over the outside of the hull, so the doors are protected from weather without any cutouts or modifications needed.
A full 180-gallon tank adds roughly 1,080 pounds to the boat's dry weight. That is a significant swing that changes tongue weight and how the boat sits on the trailer bunks. The cover fits identically regardless of fuel level because it attaches to the T-top frame and trailer frame, not the hull. However, we recommend keeping the boat level on the trailer — if you store with a full tank, verify the boat has not shifted forward or aft on the bunks, which can cause the cover to drape unevenly.
A T-top mooring cover hangs from the T-top roof underside and encloses the cockpit, helm, and engines while leaving the hardtop exposed for ventilation. Full enclosures seal everything shut, trapping salt-laden moisture that accelerates corrosion on hardware and mildew on upholstery. For a tournament boat like the 28 Gamefish that returns from offshore runs coated in salt spray, the open-roof ventilation is critical. Humid salty air escapes upward while UV, rain, and debris are still blocked from reaching the electronics, livewells, and seating below.
At 28 feet 6 inches with twin engines and a 9-foot-9-inch beam, the cover uses a large amount of fabric, making replacement a significant investment. Most 28 Gamefish owners choose Sunbrella for its longer UV life and colorfastness under years of direct offshore sun and salt exposure. The extended replacement interval pays for the premium over time. Our 9-ounce marine canvas remains an excellent option at a lower price point, especially if the boat gets partial shade or you rinse the cover regularly after saltwater trips.
We need your model year, whether you have the CB (Coffin Box) or FS (Forward Seating) configuration, T-top type and roof dimensions, and engine make and horsepower. While the exterior cover pattern is the same for both CB and FS, confirming your configuration helps us verify all details. Also let us know about any aftermarket additions to the T-top like outriggers, rocket launchers, a radar dome, or additional spreader lights so the cover clears all hardware properly.

Sea Hunt 28 Gamefish T-Top Boat Cover – Tournament-Grade Protection for a Dedicated Offshore Machine

The Sea Hunt 28 Gamefish is a purpose-built offshore center console — 28 feet 6 inches of deep-V hull with a 9-foot-9-inch beam, 21-degree transom deadrise, and twin Yamaha F300 outboards pushing 600 horsepower combined. At roughly 5,800 to 6,800 pounds dry depending on the Forward Seating or Coffin Box configuration, this is a serious fishing platform that demands serious cover protection. Our custom-fitted T-top mooring cover attaches to the integrated fiberglass T-top frame and extends from bow to transom, fully enclosing the cockpit, helm, triple livewells, and both outboard engines. See our full lineup of T-top boat covers to find protection for every style of T-top boat we build for.

Triple Livewells, Coffin Box, and 200-Quart Fish Boxes Worth Shielding

The 28 Gamefish CB packs 71 gallons of livewell capacity across three separate wells — a 40-gallon in the leaning post, a 16-gallon at the transom, and a 15-gallon pitch bait well at the bow. Add twin 200-quart insulated in-floor fish boxes and a full coffin box, and you have tournament-grade storage that needs to be drained and sealed before covering. Our cover encloses all of this hardware from above, blocking UV that degrades gaskets and seals while keeping rain, leaves, and bird droppings out of open compartments. The 28 Gamefish shares its offshore pedigree with the next size down — see our Sea Hunt 25 Gamefish T-Top cover for the smaller sibling in the Gamefish family.

Twin F300 Transom Coverage and 180-Gallon Range Boat Storage

The twin Yamaha F300 outboards represent one of the largest investments on the boat, and our cover’s rear pouch is engineered specifically for this wide twin-engine transom. The fabric extends past the transom as one continuous loose drape that envelops both cowlings together without pressing against either one. Between offshore trips, 180 gallons of fuel range means extended dock time where UV, salt crystallization, and weather wear accumulate across that broad 9-foot-9-inch beam. Our Sunbrella and 9-ounce marine canvas options block all of it while the breathable T-top roof ventilation prevents trapped moisture. The 28 Gamefish shares its hull dimensions with the Sea Hunt 28 Escape T-Top, a cruiser-fisherman hybrid that benefits from the same precision patterning approach. Available in navy, black, and charcoal gray.
