7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.
9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.
Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.
Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions
The 282 Sailfish (2001–2008) was Grady White's most serious cruiser-fisher, designed for anglers who wanted overnight capability, spacious cabin accommodations, and serious offshore performance. With twin 300 HP engines and a walkaround layout, it represented the pinnacle of Grady White's big-boat offering before being replaced by the larger 290 Chesapeake.
The cabin features a forward V-berth dinette, mid-cabin berth, full galley with microwave and refrigerator, enclosed head with shower, and a teak and holly sole throughout. At 28 feet, it's a true cruising platform with creature comforts rivaling 30+ foot express cruisers.
The 282 carries 207 gallons of fuel and 10 gallons of fresh water. Combined with twin 300 HP engines burning approximately 40–50 GPH combined at cruise (24–26 knots), it delivers roughly 400–500 mile range, making it suitable for multi-day fishing trips or coastal cruising.
Yes. The 282 features a 300-quart fish box integrated into the aft cockpit structure, plus a 40-gallon livewell. Unlike the smaller center console Fishermen, the 282 balances overnight cruising with serious fishing capability.
The 282 boasts a 59-square-foot cockpit—one of the largest in Grady White's fleet. This provides ample space for anglers, fighting chairs, and tackle without crowding the cabin area.
The 290 Chesapeake (2008+) offered more interior volume, updated twin engine options (Yamaha F350, Verado, or similar), modern electronics integration, and a revised cabin layout with slightly more headroom. The 290 commands a premium price but delivers refined cruising and fishing.
The 282's fiberglass deep-vee hull (19–20.5° variable deadrise) prioritizes ride quality and seaworthiness over speed and shallow-water access. The Fisherman series (19–21° deadrise) is more performance-oriented. For offshore cruising and comfort, the 282's design excels.
Yes. The 282's walkaround deck with side railings, cabin profile, and T-Top geometry require custom cutouts and reinforced seams at stress points. The cover must accommodate 30'2" overall length (with pulpit), which is significantly larger than any Fisherman in this lineup.
The 282 includes an integrated swim and dive platform at the transom, perfect for water sports, diving access, or quick retrieval of crew. It's sized appropriately for the boat's 6,781 lbs dry weight and twin 300 engine configuration.
Absolutely. The 282 (2001–2008 production) is a sought-after pre-owned cabin cruiser. Well-maintained examples with updated systems are excellent values compared to newer 290 Chesapeake models.

Custom-Fit Grady White 282 Sailfish T-Top Boat Cover
The Grady White 282 Sailfish (2001–2008) was the brand’s flagship cruiser-fisher — a 28-foot walkaround cabin with a 9’6″ beam, 6,781 lbs dry weight, and twin outboards producing up to 600 HP total. Built on a fiberglass deep-vee hull with 19–20.5° variable deadrise, the 282 delivered serious offshore performance with the comfort of a forward V-berth dinette, mid-cabin berth, full galley with microwave and refrigerator, enclosed head with shower, and teak and holly cabin sole. With 207 gallons of fuel, a 300-quart fish box, 40-gallon livewell, and a 59-square-foot cockpit, this was the boat that proved you could fish hard and cruise comfortably in the same hull. Our custom T-Top cover wraps the entire hull below the hardtop, with heavy-duty reinforced stitching, fitted cutouts for T-Top support legs and outrigger arms, and cabin profile accommodation using 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric or Sunbrella acrylic.
Installation takes approximately 60 minutes with two people. At 30’2″ overall length (with pulpit) and 9’6″ beam, this is the largest cover in our Grady White Batch 1-2 lineup, requiring careful alignment and secure tie-down at multiple points along the walkaround deck.
Protecting a Flagship Investment
The 282 Sailfish represents a significant investment — well-maintained examples command strong prices on the used market, and the teak and holly cabin sole, galley appliances, and premium interior finishes are expensive to restore once UV, salt, and weather take their toll. The walkaround deck, cabin roof, and exposed cockpit surfaces are particularly vulnerable to fading, staining, and fiberglass oxidation. A properly fitted cover eliminates these threats during storage, extending both the cosmetic and structural life of the boat by years. Given the 282’s premium cabin appointments, many owners choose Sunbrella acrylic (8–10 year lifespan) over solution-dyed fabric (5–7 years) for maximum protection of their investment.
Engineered for the Walkaround Cabin Profile
The 282’s walkaround cabin design, elevated cabin profile, side railings, outrigger arms, and twin-engine transom present unique covering challenges that no generic cover can address. Our custom pattern accounts for the 30’2″ overall length, cabin height transitions, T-Top support leg positions, and the twin outboard configuration at the transom. The aft section drapes loosely over both engines as one continuous pouch, with cinch straps gathering the fabric at the base. Reinforced seams at high-wear contact points prevent chafing where the cover meets railings, hardware, and the cabin structure.
