Yes. The cover wraps the entire boat from bow to stern as one continuous piece. Fabric extends past the transom and drapes over the engine cowling. Only the lower unit and propeller remain visible below the fabric edge. No separate engine cover needed.
Same hull, different cover type. The 185 T-Top version adds a hardtop for sun protection while fishing — a T-Top cover wraps below the hardtop, leaving the roof exposed. The 185CC (center console without hardtop) gets a full-wrap cover that envelops the entire boat including the engine. If your 185 has no hardtop, this is your cover.
150 HP on 2,250 lbs delivers excellent performance — quick time to plane, efficient cruise in the mid-20s, and enough power to handle chop and current. The 185 isn't a speed boat; it's a fishing platform, and 150 HP is perfectly matched to its intended use. Most owners run Yamaha F150 four-strokes for reliability and fuel efficiency.
Absolutely. The 185 is the Heritage model most commonly taken nearshore — the 7'4" beam provides good stability, the 54-gallon tank gives range to run 5–10 miles offshore on settled days, and the SPI hull handles chop better than any conventionally built boat at this size. Experienced operators run these to nearshore reefs, wrecks, and artificial structure regularly.
The 185 packs serious fishing hardware: a livewell, multiple rod holders, under-gunwale rod storage, in-floor storage, a center console with head compartment (rare at this size), and a self-bailing cockpit. The 54-gallon fuel tank and 150 HP let you reach fishing grounds that smaller Heritage boats can’t. The cockpit comfortably accommodates 3–4 anglers fishing simultaneously.
The 185CC has been succeeded by newer Heritage models, but the 185 established EdgeWater’s reputation for bringing premium offshore-grade construction to compact fishing boats. Many 185s remain actively fished in serious inshore and nearshore programs. Our cover patterns are maintained regardless of production status.
At 2,250 lbs dry (roughly 3,200–3,500 lbs loaded on trailer), the 185 needs a capable tow vehicle — a full-size pickup, full-size SUV, or heavy-duty midsize truck. The 7’4" beam fits standard 8-foot garage doors but leaves less room than the smaller Heritage models.
Rinse with fresh water after every saltwater outing or every two weeks during storage. Full soap wash twice per season. Inspect all tie-down straps, stitching, and grommets monthly. Check for chafing where the cover contacts cleats, rod holders, and hardware. Dry the cover completely before storing in a bag.
The 188 adds 2 inches of length (18’8" vs 18’6") with a wider 7’9" beam, but runs lighter at 2,050 lbs versus the 185’s 2,250 lbs. The 185 carries a larger 54-gallon fuel tank compared to the 188’s 43 gallons. The 185 is the range champion; the 188 is the lighter, wider platform. Both max at 150 HP.
