Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 285 DC was Grady White's larger dual-console model produced from 2012 to 2019, succeeded by the Freedom 285 starting in 2020. While they share the dual-console philosophy and similar dimensions, Perfect Fit manufactures separate custom patterns because the DC and Freedom generations have different console positioning, hardtop geometry, transom layout, and hardware configurations.
The 9'2" beam—wider than the 275 DC's 8'6"—provides significantly more stability at rest for drift fishing, better tracking in beam seas, and a wider cockpit for working fish. The additional beam also increases interior volume for larger consoles, more seating, and bigger storage compartments. The tradeoff is slightly more windage in crosswinds.
Yes. The 230-gallon capacity is one of the largest in any dual console under 30 feet, providing 350+ miles of offshore range with twin outboards at cruise speed. This was a hallmark of the 285 DC—it could reach distant fishing grounds that competing dual consoles simply couldn't on a single tank.
The 285 DC accommodates twin outboards up to 300 HP each (600 HP total). Twin Yamaha F250s provide an excellent balance of performance, efficiency, and acceleration, while twin F300s deliver maximum top-end speed for tournament fishing. The 230-gallon fuel capacity makes either configuration fuel-practical for long offshore runs.
The 285 DC provides approximately 60 square feet of working cockpit space with a slightly different layout than the Freedom 285. The DC-generation consoles are positioned differently, creating a wider walk-through center path and different seating configurations. Both provide excellent fishing workspace, but the specific hardware and furniture placement require unique cover patterns.
The 285 DC features a spacious enclosed head built into the passenger console with lockable door, marine head with holding tank, sink, and ventilation. The larger hull volume compared to the 275 DC translates to more headroom and elbow room inside the head compartment. Perfect Fit's cover accounts for head plumbing vents and drainage.
Excellent. The robust SeaV² hull and Grady White construction quality mean the structural components outlast the original engines by decades. Modern twin Yamaha four-strokes (F250 or F300) drop significant weight compared to older two-stroke configurations, improve fuel efficiency by 20–30%, and run quieter. A repowered 285 DC with fresh electronics and a Perfect Fit cover has decades of service left.
The 285 DC uses a painted aluminum-frame hardtop with fiberglass top panel, while the Freedom 285 upgraded to a more integrated hardtop design. Both provide overhead sun and rain protection with spreader lights. Perfect Fit's cover pattern wraps below the hardtop regardless of generation, and each model's pattern accounts for the specific frame and support geometry.
Absolutely. The 19° deadrise hull handles 4–5 foot seas confidently, the 230-gallon fuel capacity supports aggressive offshore runs, and the insulated fishbox and livewell configurations are designed for serious fishing. Many 285 DC owners still compete in coastal and offshore tournaments with confidence.
Cover protection is arguably more important for discontinued models because replacement parts, upholstery, and gel coat repairs become increasingly expensive over time. A Perfect Fit cover prevents UV degradation of seats, console surfaces, electronics, and gel coat—extending the usable life of components that are difficult or costly to replace on a boat no longer in production.

Grady White 285 DC T-Top Boat Cover

The Grady White 285 DC is a 28’5″ twin-engine dual console that represented the pinnacle of Grady White’s DC series before the Freedom line took over. Produced from 2012 to 2019, the 285 DC combined serious offshore capability with dual-console family comfort in a package that few competitors could match. At 6,200 lbs dry weight with a 9’2″ beam, the 285 DC accommodates twin outboards up to 600 HP total and carries 230 gallons of fuel for 350+ miles of offshore range. The spacious enclosed head, insulated fishboxes, livewell, approximately 60 square feet of cockpit space, hardtop with spreader lights, and wide-beam stability made the 285 DC one of Grady White’s most popular offshore dual consoles.

Your 285 DC deserves a Perfect Fit custom T-Top cover that protects this proven offshore platform. Our cover wraps the full hull below the hardtop, protecting both consoles, enclosed head plumbing, fishbox insulation, livewell, cockpit surfaces, helm electronics, and twin-engine assembly from UV exposure, salt spray, and moisture accumulation. Solution-dyed marine fabric (5–7 years) or premium Sunbrella acrylic (8–10 years) preserves your boat’s finish, upholstery, and hardware through seasons of continued offshore use or seasonal storage.

Wide-Beam Offshore Dual Console Heritage

The 285 DC earned its reputation as a serious offshore dual console through the combination of a 9’2″ beam for exceptional stability, 230 gallons of fuel for aggressive range, and the SeaV² hull with 19° deadrise for confident rough-water handling. The DC-generation layout positioned dual consoles to maximize walk-through access and cockpit working space, while the enclosed head with marine head and sink provided the amenities families demand. The 285 DC set the performance standard that the Freedom 285 inherited—and many owners argue the DC’s layout was perfectly suited for its offshore mission.

Engineering & DC-Generation Precision Fit

Perfect Fit’s cover engineers custom-measure your 285 DC’s specific console dimensions, aluminum-frame hardtop geometry, head plumbing vents, fishbox drains, livewell ports, 9’2″ beam, and twin-engine transom layout to create a pattern unique to the DC generation. The reinforced stitching and hem cord secure the cover at the rubrail, while heavy-duty adjustable tie-down straps distribute tension evenly across the wide beam. The aft section extends into a loose, draped pouch that envelops both engines as a single continuous covering without binding.
