No — Key West produced the 186 Bay Reef from approximately 2004 through 2019. It was replaced by the 188 Bay Reef in 2020, which features an updated hull design. Our cover continues to protect every 186 model year.
The 186 Bay Reef typically runs a single outboard between 115 and 150 horsepower. Our cover fully encloses the engine as part of the continuous fabric drape, accommodating any outboard within the 186's recommended range.
The dual livewells — a 40-gallon main well and 15-gallon bow well — are below-deck systems that do not affect the external cover fit. The cover wraps around the exterior hull contours and provides complete protection over all deck-level fittings and hatches.

The cover is designed for the factory hull and console configuration. Minor aftermarket additions like rod holders or antenna mounts generally do not affect fit. For significant additions like a T-top or tower, you would need our T-top cover version instead.

The Key West 186 Bay Reef is an 18-foot inshore bay boat with an 8-foot beam and a dry weight around 1,550 pounds. Powered by a single outboard in the 115 to 150 horsepower range with approximately 40 gallons of fuel, this modified-V hull features roughly 19 degrees of deadrise and Key West’s signature no-wood fiberglass construction. Built from 2004 through 2019, the 186 Bay Reef earned a reputation among inshore anglers for its stable ride, dual livewell system — a 40-gallon main well plus a 15-gallon bow well — and its ability to fish shallow coastal waters across the Gulf and Atlantic coasts.
Our custom-fitted mooring cover protects the entire 186 Bay Reef as one continuous piece of fabric. The cover rises smoothly over the center console, follows a gradual slope toward the stern, and extends past the transom to fully enclose the outboard engine with a natural, slightly loose drape. A hem cord cinches along the rubrail, and the bottom edge reaches nearly to the keel — leaving only a thin strip of hull visible.
