Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

*The warranty periods above are provided by the fabric manufacturer and cover the material itself. For details on what’s included in the warranty for your completed cover, please see our warranty page.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer three fabric tiers for the 231. The 7 oz polyester provides lightweight, budget-friendly protection. The 9 oz solution-dyed polyester — our most popular option — delivers a tighter weave with superior UV resistance and mildew protection rated for 5 to 7 years of continuous outdoor use. The premium Sunbrella acrylic upgrade extends that to 8 to 10 years, making it the best choice for Mako owners who dock in full-sun southern climates year-round.
Yes — the cover is custom-patterned with reinforced cutouts that wrap precisely around the 231's factory T-Top support legs. The fabric attaches at the underside edge of the T-Top hardtop, then drapes down around the support posts and extends to the hull's chine. The white fiberglass hardtop remains fully exposed on top while everything below — console, leaning post, cockpit, and hull sides — is enclosed. The cutouts use reinforced binding to prevent fraying.
Installation takes under five minutes solo. Drape the cover over the T-Top frame from the hardtop attachment points, letting the fabric fall naturally around the support legs. Pull forward to the bow and aft to the transom, then down each side. Secure the hem cord along the rub rail and fasten the adjustable tie-down straps underneath. The pattern accounts for the 231's 23'2" length and 8'0" beam, so everything aligns without forcing.
Absolutely. The cover is reinforced at every high-stress point — bow eye, T-Top leg cutouts, cleat locations, and transom edge — with double-stitched seams that handle sustained wind pressure at highway speeds. The 231's 2,880-pound dry weight makes it a commonly trailered offshore platform, and the adjustable strap system cinches tight to eliminate billowing. The hem cord locks along the rub rail for a secure seal the entire trip.
The cover creates a complete barrier over every exposed surface below the T-Top hardtop. The 231's helm electronics, fishfinder, VHF radio, leaning post with rod holders, livewells, insulated storage, and all cockpit upholstery are fully enclosed. UV rays, rain, salt spray, and bird droppings are blocked. The Mako 231's deep-V hull design includes numerous integrated fishing features that benefit from consistent coverage between trips.
Every cover includes a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship — stitching failures, fabric delamination, hardware corrosion, and snap or buckle breakage. This applies whether your 231 is stored on a trailer, boat lift, or at a dock. The 9 oz fabric delivers 5 to 7 years of reliable protection, and the Sunbrella upgrade extends that to 8 to 10 years.
The cover is water-resistant with a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish — rain and spray bead up and roll off. It is engineered to breathe rather than seal completely, because a fully waterproof cover would trap moisture underneath and promote mildew on the 231's upholstery and gel coat. The breathable design allows air circulation while blocking direct water contact — the ideal balance for an offshore fishing boat that may sit covered between trips.
The cover is patterned to fit the standard-production Mako 231 with a factory T-Top. Mako has maintained the 231's core dimensions — 23'2" LOA, 8'0" beam, and 19-degree deadrise — consistently across production years. If your boat has significant aftermarket modifications like a custom tower or oversized outboard bracket, contact us to confirm fitment before ordering.
The 9 oz solution-dyed polyester is available in Navy, Black, and Charcoal. The 7 oz option offers the same palette at a lighter weight. Upgrading to Sunbrella acrylic adds Captain Navy, Pacific Blue, Forest Green, and additional marine-grade shades. All fabrics use solution-dyed fiber where pigment is embedded during manufacturing, so the cover resists UV fading for years.
Shipping is a flat rate of $30 per cover to anywhere in the continental United States. Orders typically ship within 1 to 2 business days via ground carrier. The cover arrives with all mounting hardware included — stainless steel snaps, adjustable tie-down straps, hem cord, and T-Top attachment fittings — ready for immediate installation on your 231.

Mako 231 T-Top Boat Cover — Classic Offshore Confidence

The Mako 231 is a 23’2” center console built on one of the most respected hulls in offshore fishing history. Powered by up to 250 horsepower, this deep-V hull features a 19-degree deadrise, an 8’0” beam, and a 160-gallon fuel tank that keeps you on the water longer. Weighing roughly 2,880 pounds dry, the 231 is nimble enough for shallow-water launches at approximately 13 inches of draft yet capable of handling serious offshore chop. Mako has been building hardcore fishing boats since 1967 in Miami, and the 231 carries that DNA in every stringer. A custom-fitted cover from boat shade kits at Perfect Fit Boat Covers keeps this proven platform protected between trips.

Tailored to the 231’s Tournament-Ready Layout

Our cover is pattern-cut to the Mako 231’s specific dimensions, wrapping under the T-Top frame and draping around the raised center console, leaning post, and transom-mounted livewell. Reinforced cutouts accommodate the T-Top legs without bunching or excess fabric, and adjustable tie-down straps with a hem cord at the rubrail lock everything in place. Installation takes under five minutes solo — simply drape, strap, and buckle. The cover is fully trailerable at highway speeds with reinforced stress points, so you can hit the ramp at first light and protect the 231 on the ride home. Anglers who want reliable protection for a Mako 234 or any other model in the lineup will find the same custom-fit precision across every cover we build.

Protection That Matches Mako Toughness

Choose from our 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric rated for five to seven years of UV and weather resistance, or upgrade to premium Sunbrella acrylic for eight to ten years of proven durability. Both options are water-repellent, mildew-resistant, and breathable — moisture escapes while rain and salt spray stay out. Double-stitched seams and solution-dyed fibers mean the color is locked into every thread, so there is zero dye transfer to your gel coat. Every cover ships with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, and owners looking for additional protection for smaller Mako center consoles can also explore our Mako 171 center console cover for the same build quality in a compact package.
