The 172 is rated for up to 115 HP, with 90 HP being the most popular option. Either way, you'll cruise comfortably in the upper 20s and top out around 40 mph. Our cover is patterned to accommodate the engine well and transom-mounted outboard configuration.
With a 10-inch draft, the 172 can access skinny water that most boats can't reach. The 15-degree deadrise and modified-vee hull make it ideal for shallow creeks, grass flats, and tributaries. Our cover protects the hull and deck between trips so you're always ready to launch when the tide is right.

Sunbrella acrylic is premium—it lasts 8-10 years, resists fading better, and handles extreme weather more reliably. For a compact boat like the 172, either option provides excellent protection.
We don't recommend using the center console cover for trailering. Highway wind speeds can stress the fabric beyond its designed limits. Deploy the cover once you've reached your destination. For trailering protection, ask about our separate travel covers designed for highway use.
Yes. We back our solution-dyed marine fabric with a 5-year coverage warranty and Sunbrella with an 8-year warranty. These cover manufacturing defects and seam failures. Normal wear from UV exposure, weathering, or improper care is excluded—that's expected aging over time.
