7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.
9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.
Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.
Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.
*The warranty periods above are provided by the fabric manufacturer and cover the material itself. For details on what’s included in the warranty for your completed cover, please see our warranty page.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Shearwater 2400 Z T-Top cover is available in 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric or premium Sunbrella acrylic. The 9oz fabric provides 5 to 7 years of UV and weather protection, while Sunbrella extends that to 8 to 10 years. Both fabrics are solution-dyed for fade resistance.
Yes. The cover is pattern-cut specifically for the Shearwater 2400 Z's factory T-Top with reinforced cutouts that route around the support legs. The cover wraps the hull below the hardtop while the white fiberglass T-Top roof remains fully exposed above.
Installation takes under 5 minutes with one person. Drape the cover over the 2400 Z's hull, route it around the T-Top legs through the reinforced cutouts, and lock down the adjustable strap-and-buckle system beneath the rubrail. No tools or additional help needed.
No — please remove the cover before towing your Shearwater 2400 Z. Our covers are not designed to be trailered: towing with the cover on can cause severe damage to the cover and voids the warranty. The cover is designed for storage only — on a trailer, boat lift, dry stack, or jet dock — and comes off in minutes at the ramp.
Absolutely. The cover seals the Shearwater 2400 Z's entire cockpit, helm station, electronics, live well, and all upholstered surfaces. It provides a complete barrier against UV, rain, salt spray, bird droppings, pollen, and debris.
Your Shearwater 2400 Z cover is backed by our manufacturer's warranty for the original purchaser. Materials and workmanship — stitching, straps, buckles, zippers, and other hardware — are covered for 1 year from the purchase date. Fabric is covered for 3 years on 7oz, 5 years on black or navy 9oz, and 6 years on Sunbrella. Covered defects are repaired or replaced after you contact us for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. The warranty does not cover improper use, accident or negligence, unauthorized modifications, improper care, mold or mildew, incorrectly placed orders, theft or loss, or acts of God — and traveling with the cover on or using it in the water voids the warranty. See our Warranty page for full details.
The cover is water-resistant with a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish. Rain and spray bead off the surface. The fabric is breathable rather than fully waterproof, which prevents trapped moisture and mildew from damaging the Shearwater 2400 Z's interior.
This cover fits Shearwater 2400 Z models from standard production years equipped with the factory T-Top. The 2400 Z was produced during the mid-2000s with a consistent hull design. If your boat has a factory T-Top, this cover will fit.
The Shearwater 2400 Z cover is available in 9oz solution-dyed polyester in Navy or Black, 7oz polyester in Black, or premium Sunbrella acrylic in Marine Blue, Black, or Smoke. Choose your fabric and color in the order options above.

Shearwater 2400 Z T-Top Boat Cover — Gulf Coast Bay Boat Protection Built to Last
The Shearwater 2400 Z measures approximately 24’0″ with an 8’3″ beam, an estimated 3,500-pound dry weight, and runs a single 300-horsepower outboard on a modified-V hull with roughly 18 degrees of deadrise. Built by American Marine Sports in Palacios, Texas — the same operation that has been producing Shearwater bay boats since 1999 — the 2400 Z was engineered for the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast, where shallow-draft bay boat capability and legitimate offshore range have to coexist in the same hull. Vacuum-bagged composite construction keeps the weight down and the strength up, and 83 gallons of fuel with a 13-inch draft means this boat can run the flats at dawn and head 15 miles offshore by lunch. Our custom-fitted T-Top cover wraps the entire hull below the hardtop, protecting the cockpit, helm, and deck surfaces from UV, salt, rain, and debris while the white fiberglass T-Top roof stays fully exposed. Owners exploring the full Shearwater boat covers collection will find the same precision fit across every model we cover.
Tailored to the 2400 Z’s Bay-Style Deck Plan
The Shearwater 2400 Z’s layout is classic Texas bay boat — a wide-open cockpit with deep fish boxes, an aerated live well, raised casting platform, flush-mount rod holders, and a center console helm designed for sight-fishing in skinny water. Our cover is pattern-cut to account for the T-Top support legs, console profile, leaning post, and all gunwale hardware without bunching or pulling at high-stress areas. Installation takes under five minutes with one person: drape the cover over the hull, route it through the reinforced T-Top leg cutouts, and secure the adjustable strap-and-buckle system beneath the rubrail. The hem cord locks tight for a snug fit, and the 2400 Z’s 13-inch draft makes it a ramp-friendly boat. Remove the cover before towing — it’s designed for storage, not travel. Shearwater owners stepping up to the larger platform should check the Shearwater 250 XTE boat cover for the same custom-cut quality on the XTE hull.
Protection That Respects Vacuum-Bagged Construction
Shearwater’s vacuum-bagged composite layup produces a hull that’s lighter, stronger, and more resistant to flex than traditional hand-laid fiberglass — and your cover should protect that investment accordingly. Choose 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric for 5 to 7 years of UV and weather resistance, or step up to premium Sunbrella acrylic for 8 to 10 years of Gulf Coast protection. Both options are water-repellent, mildew-resistant, and double-stitched at every seam. Every cover ships with our warranty (1 year on materials and workmanship, plus 3–6 years on the fabric). If you’re also covering bay boats from other Gulf Coast builders, the Key West 219 FS boat cover delivers the same precision-fit approach for another proven shallow-water platform.
