7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.
9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.
Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.
Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.
*The warranty periods above are provided by the fabric manufacturer and cover the material itself. For details on what’s included in the warranty for your completed cover, please see our warranty page.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Mako 17 T-Top cover is available in 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric, which provides 5 to 7 years of UV and weather protection. You can also choose 7oz marine fabric for a lighter-weight option or upgrade to premium Sunbrella acrylic for 8 to 10 years of durability. All fabrics are water-repellent, mildew-resistant, and breathable to prevent trapped moisture under the cover.
Yes. The Mako 17 cover is pattern-cut with reinforced cutouts that wrap around each T-Top frame leg. The cover drapes beneath the hardtop and over the hull, protecting the console, leaning post, seating, and gunwales while leaving the T-Top roof exposed for ventilation and structural clearance.
Installation takes one person under five minutes. Drape the cover over the bow, pull it aft beneath the T-Top, and secure it using the adjustable tie-down straps and buckles along each side. A hem cord at the rubrail locks the cover in place. No tools, snaps, or additional hardware are needed.
No — please remove the cover before towing your Mako 17. Our covers are not designed to be trailered: towing with the cover on can cause severe damage to the cover and voids the warranty. The cover is designed for storage only — on a trailer, boat lift, dry stack, or jet dock — and comes off in minutes at the ramp.
Absolutely. The cover creates a complete barrier over the helm station, console-mounted electronics, GPS units, fishfinders, and all interior upholstery. It blocks UV rays, rain, salt spray, bird droppings, and airborne debris — whether your Mako 17 is on a trailer, on a lift, or in storage.
Your Mako 17 cover is backed by our manufacturer's warranty for the original purchaser. Materials and workmanship — stitching, straps, buckles, zippers, and other hardware — are covered for 1 year from the purchase date. Fabric is covered for 3 years on 7oz, 5 years on black or navy 9oz, and 6 years on Sunbrella. Covered defects are repaired or replaced after you contact us for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. The warranty does not cover improper use, accident or negligence, unauthorized modifications, improper care, mold or mildew, incorrectly placed orders, theft or loss, or acts of God — and traveling with the cover on or using it in the water voids the warranty. See our Warranty page for full details.
The cover is water-resistant with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish that causes rain and spray to bead and roll off the surface. It is intentionally breathable rather than fully waterproof, which prevents moisture and mildew from building up underneath — a critical feature in humid saltwater environments.
Yes. This cover is designed to fit all Mako 17 models with a factory-installed T-Top across the model's production years (1969-2009). The custom-fitted pattern accounts for the 17's consistent hull shape, 7-foot 2-inch beam, and T-Top frame geometry.
The Mako 17 cover is available in 9oz solution-dyed polyester in Navy or Black, 7oz polyester in Black, or premium Sunbrella acrylic in Marine Blue, Black, or Smoke. Choose your fabric and color in the order options above.

Mako 17 T-Top Boat Cover — Legendary Inshore Protection for a Timeless Hull
The Mako 17 is one of the most iconic saltwater fishing boats ever built — a 17-foot center console that stayed in continuous production for 40 years from 1969 to 2009. Designed by Robert Schwebke and powered by a single outboard, the 17 rides on a 12-degree deadrise hull with a 7-foot 2-inch beam and a dry weight of approximately 1,250 pounds. This custom-fitted Perfect Fit Boat Covers T-Top cover wraps the entire hull beneath the hardtop, shielding the Mako 17’s console, leaning post, and cockpit from sun, rain, salt spray, and seasonal storage exposure.
Tailored to the 17’s Clean Fishing Layout
Every Mako 17 cover is pattern-cut to account for the boat’s T-Top frame legs, center console profile, and rod holders. The cover drapes over the gunwales with a hem cord that seats against the rubrail, while adjustable tie-down straps secure the fit from bow to stern. Installation takes one person under five minutes — drape, strap, and buckle with no tools required. The 17’s shallow draft means you can launch from almost any ramp. Remove the cover before towing — it’s designed for storage, not travel. If you also run a Mako 17 without a T-Top, the Mako 17 CC center console cover provides full-hull protection for the open-console configuration.
Protection That Matches Mako’s Saltwater Legacy
Mako built its reputation on boats that handle decades of hard saltwater use — your cover should hold up the same way. Choose from 9oz solution-dyed marine fabric rated for 5 to 7 years of UV and weather resistance, or upgrade to premium Sunbrella acrylic for 8 to 10 years of protection. Both fabrics are water-repellent, mildew-resistant, and breathable enough to prevent trapped moisture. Double-stitched seams and reinforced stress points ensure the cover holds up season after season. Every cover ships with our warranty (1 year on materials and workmanship, plus 3–6 years on the fabric) and $30 flat-rate shipping to the continental U.S. For a similar custom-fitted cover on the next size up in the Mako lineup, see the Mako 184 T-Top cover.
