Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

A T-Top cover protects the deck, console, seating, and equipment below the hardtop frame on your 231 XSB. The cover shields the helm station, live well, fishing and family areas, and upholstery from UV damage, salt spray, rain, and debris while leaving the T-Top structure itself uncovered.
XSB stands for Express Sport Bay—Scout's crossover category that blends sport boat performance with bay boat shallow-water access. The 231 XSB features a 14° deadrise, which is shallower than typical sport boats, giving it the ability to run skinny water while maintaining enough V-hull performance for open-water capability. It's designed for owners who want one boat that does both.
Yes, every Perfect Fit cover is custom-engineered for the Scout 231 XSB's specific hull geometry. The pattern accounts for the 23'2" LOA, 8'6" beam, and the XSB's unique deck layout that blends sport and bay boat features. The 14° deadrise hull shape differs significantly from deeper-V sportfish models, and the cover pattern reflects that difference.
Choose between solution-dyed marine fabric rated for 5–7 years or premium Sunbrella acrylic rated for 8–10 years. Both feature reinforced stitching, hem cord at the rubrail, and adjustable tie-down straps. The 231 XSB's crossover use means the cover frequently encounters both saltwater fishing environments and family cruising conditions.
The 231 XSB bridges the gap between Scout's bay boats and sportfish models. The 14° deadrise is shallower than sportfish models (typically 19–22°), giving better shallow-water access and stability at rest like a bay boat. But the 23'2" hull, 2,800 lb weight, and sport boat features provide more open-water capability than a dedicated bay boat. It's Scout's answer to the "one boat" question.
The 231 XSB draws just 14.5" of draft, making it capable of accessing shallow flats, oyster bars, and backwater areas that deeper-draft boats can't reach. The 14° deadrise hull design prioritizes shallow-water performance while the 65-gallon fuel tank provides enough range for a full day exploring coastal waters and nearshore fishing grounds.
The Scout 231 XSB is rated for up to 8 persons, reflecting its crossover design that serves both fishing and family use. The deck layout accommodates a crew for fishing while providing comfortable seating for family outings. The 2,800 lb hull handles the load efficiently thanks to Scout's NuV3 triple-stepped hull design.
The cover uses a hem cord at the rubrail for a continuous perimeter seal, combined with adjustable tie-down straps at key points around the 231 XSB's hull. The dual attachment system accommodates the XSB's unique hull profile—shallower than sportfish models—and keeps the cover secure whether stored at a dock, on a lift, or in a slip.
Rinse with fresh water after saltwater exposure and allow complete drying before storing. The 231 XSB's crossover nature means it often sees both shallow-water fishing and open-water cruising, increasing salt and debris exposure. Both fabric options resist mold and mildew, but regular rinsing and drying extends the cover's rated lifespan significantly.
Yes, Perfect Fit covers Scout's XSB (Express Sport Bay) and XSF (Express Sport Fish) crossover models alongside the full sportfish, bay, and Dorado lineups. Each cover is custom-engineered for the specific model's hull geometry. The 231 XSB's 14° deadrise hull shape requires a completely different cover pattern than deeper-V sportfish models on the same 23-foot platform.

Scout 231 XSB T-Top Boat Cover

The Scout 231 XSB is a unique 23’2″ Express Sport Bay with an 8’6″ beam, 14-degree deadrise, approximately 2,800 lbs dry weight, 65 gallons of fuel, a 14.5-inch draft, and an 8-person capacity — a crossover platform that combines shallow-water bay boat performance with the comfort features and build quality of Scout’s sport line. The “XSB” designation stands for Express Sport Bay, signaling a hull that borrows the shallow-draft, low-deadrise design philosophy from Scout’s bay boat family while adding the sport-oriented deck layout and comfort features that make the boat equally effective for family cruising and watersports. At 14 degrees of deadrise and 14.5 inches of draft, the 231 XSB accesses the same skinny water that dedicated bay boats reach — but at 23’2″ with an 8’6″ beam, it provides a significantly larger and more stable platform for the full range of on-water activities.

A Perfect Fit T-Top cover for the 231 XSB protects the sport bay’s versatile deck layout — console, electronics, seating areas, fishing infrastructure, and the comfort features that define the XSB’s crossover personality. The 231’s 23’2″ length and 8’6″ beam create substantial coverage area, and the bay-style hull means the cover needs to perform well in the shallow-water storage environments where bay boats typically live. Choose between solution-dyed marine fabric (5–7 years) or premium Sunbrella acrylic (8–10 years), both secured by reinforced stitching, hem cord at the rubrail, and adjustable tie-down straps engineered for the 231 XSB’s specific hull geometry. The cover wraps below the T-Top hardtop while leaving the fiberglass roof exposed.

Bay Boat DNA, Sport Boat Soul

The 231 XSB is Scout’s answer to the boater who wants it all — shallow-water access for flats fishing, a large stable platform for family days, and enough capability for open-bay crossings. The 14-degree deadrise keeps the hull shallow and stable at rest (perfect for drift fishing and anchoring on sandbars), while the NuV3 triple-step design provides efficient planing and a smooth ride at speed. The 65-gallon fuel tank is sized for all-day inshore runs without the weight penalty of an offshore-grade tank. Your cover protects the XSB’s dual-personality deck — the fishing hardware and the family comfort features that make it the most versatile platform in Scout’s mid-size lineup.
