Choose Your Cover Fabric

7 oz. Polyester — Our entry-level marine cover fabric, woven from 100% polyester fiber at a 7 oz. per linear yard weight. This lighter option keeps the cover manageable for solo handling while still delivering reliable protection against sun, rain, and debris. Backed by a 3-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black.

9 oz. Polyester — Step up to our heavy-duty polyester, engineered at 9 oz. per linear yard for boats that face tougher conditions or extended outdoor storage. The denser weave adds an extra layer of defense against abrasion and weather without adding unnecessary bulk. Protected by a 5-year fabric warranty. Ships in Navy or Black.

Sunbrella® — For boaters who want the best, our Sunbrella covers use 100% solution-dyed acrylic — the same fabric trusted by marine professionals worldwide. Naturally resistant to fading, mold, and water damage, Sunbrella holds its color and integrity season after season. Covered by a 6-year fabric warranty. Ships in Black, Smoke, or Marine Blue.

Both polyester options feature solution-dyed construction, where pigment is infused into each fiber during production rather than applied to the surface afterward. This process locks color deep into the material, preventing any dye transfer to your boat’s gel coat or finish. The result is a cover that stays vibrant without bleeding or rubbing off. Our polyester is also designed to breathe — it allows moisture trapped underneath to vent out naturally, reducing the risk of mildew and keeping your boat dry. The fabric holds its form without sagging or stretching over time, stays lightweight enough for one person to handle, and stands up to prolonged UV exposure and harsh marine weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 251 XS CC (center console) and 251 XS TT (T-Top) share the identical 24'10" hull, NuV3 engineering, and shallow 13" draft. The key difference is structure: the CC wraps the entire boat with a full cover, providing maximum gelcoat and upholstery protection; the TT has a permanent hardtop that provides in-water shade and weather protection, with a cover that wraps below the hardtop. Choose the CC if you want the absolute maximum protection and open-water fishing without hardtop obstruction. Choose the TT if you value in-water shade, weather protection during idle time, and a permanent structure that supports electronics mounting. Both are equally capable offshore and shallow-water platforms—it's about personal preference for deck layout and shade needs.
A full center console cover wraps the entire boat—helm console, windscreen (if equipped), entire deck, and engine compartment. This provides 360-degree protection: the deck is protected topside, the topsides are protected from UV and salt spray, and even the engine area gets shaded. For boats in aggressive saltwater environments or stored outdoors without shade, the full CC cover is superior. The T-Top cover only covers below the hardtop, leaving the hardtop structure exposed. If you're serious about protecting every square inch of your 251 XS, the CC configuration with a full cover is the right choice.
Scout typically equips the 251 XS CC with a low windscreen around the helm for underway weather protection, but it's not a full hardtop. The windscreen height allows the full center console cover to fit seamlessly over the entire structure. The cover protects the windscreen frame and glass from salt spray and UV, which is important because windscreen frames can corrode and glass can etch from salt exposure. With the CC cover in place, your windscreen equipment stays cleaner and requires less maintenance.
Yes, many 251 XS CC owners retrofit a hardtop after purchase, though this is a significant structural modification that should be handled by a Scout dealer or qualified marine installer. If you retrofit a hardtop, we can create a modified cover with cutouts to fit around the new hardtop frame, or you could transition to a T-Top cover system. Consult with Scout's service department about hardtop retrofit options specific to your boat's year and configuration before committing to major structural changes.
The 251 XS CC has excellent open deck space behind the helm console—easily room for two anglers, tackle boxes, and fishing activity without hardtop obstruction. Unlike the TT version, which has a hardtop overhead, the CC deck is completely open to sky, allowing long casting arcs and unrestricted movement. This open layout is preferred by tournament anglers and serious fishing crews. The tradeoff is you give up in-water shade and weather protection that the hardtop provides, which is why guides working full-sun conditions often prefer the TT model.
A full center console cover does limit ventilation compared to no cover, but this is the tradeoff for maximum protection. The cover material is breathable (solution-dyed marine fabric or Sunbrella acrylic), allowing some air circulation. For boats stored in wet slips during winter, we recommend removing the cover every 2–3 weeks to allow full ventilation and prevent moisture accumulation. If you're storing the boat on a trailer or under a covered shed, ventilation is less critical—the cover's primary job is blocking UV and salt spray, not providing constant air exchange.
Initial installation is 20–25 minutes. Removal and reinstallation each time you use the boat takes 15–20 minutes. The full hull coverage means the cover has more anchor points (rubrail, console base, windscreen) than a T-Top, requiring slightly more time, but the custom fit is so precise that no adjustment or manipulation is needed. Many owners establish a routine: cover on during slip storage, remove and stow before launch, reinstall after retrieval and drying.
The 251 XS CC can accommodate a two-person fishing team for multi-day tournaments, though space is tighter than a 30+ foot boat. You'd want to minimize gear—focus on tournament tackle, maybe a small cooler, and minimal personal items. The open deck is actually an advantage for tournament fishing: judges can easily inspect your catch, and you have maximum working space for fish handling. Many regional tournaments class the 251 XS CC as a competitive boat; check your specific tournament's boat length requirements before committing to entry.
Sunbrella acrylic is solution-dyed (colorant is mixed into the raw fiber before weaving), just like marine fabric, but it's woven with tighter density and treated with additional UV inhibitors and mildew resistance. On a 251 XS CC moored in saltwater, Sunbrella maintains its color and water repellency after 8–10 years; solution-dyed marine fabric typically fades and loses water repellency after 5–7 years. Sunbrella also resists mold growth better in humid saltwater environments. For boats in Florida, the Caribbean, or Pacific coastal marinas, Sunbrella is worth the premium investment.
Excellent. A 251 XS CC kept under a proper cover shows minimal gelcoat oxidation, fading, or UV damage—major value factors for used boat buyers. The upholstery, hardware, and console remain in showroom condition despite years of use. Potential buyers immediately recognize a well-covered boat as evidence of owner care and attention. A 251 XS CC in pristine condition due to consistent cover use commands 7–12% higher resale prices than a neglected boat of the same age, engine hours, and overall condition. The cover investment pays for itself in retained value.

Scout 251 XS Center Console Boat Cover

The Scout 251 XS center console is Scout’s manifesto: prove that shallow-water access and offshore capability don’t require sacrifice. At 24’10” with an astonishing 13″ draft, the 251 XS CC navigates grass flats and backcountry shallows that deeper boats can’t follow. Yet the NuV3 triple-stepped hull, responsive twin-engine setup (up to 600 HP combined), and 80-gallon fuel capacity deliver genuine offshore versatility—100+ nm runs to reef or wreck fishing grounds are routine. Scout’s Summerville, South Carolina, engineers have refined this platform over three decades, creating a boat that guides trust for their living and recreational anglers cherish for their freedom. The open-deck center console layout maximizes fishing space, making the 251 XS CC a working platform, not a compromised design.

A Perfect Fit center console cover for the 251 XS CC wraps your entire boat—hull, deck, helm console, and topside areas—in custom-fitted, durable protection. Choose solution-dyed marine fabric for reliable 5–7 year coverage, or upgrade to premium Sunbrella acrylic for 8–10 years of saltwater-rated protection. The cover anchors with reinforced tie-down straps at the rubrail and console base, with protective hem cord preventing chafe. Every stitch is reinforced, every seam is sealed, and the fit accounts for the unique 251 XS geometry—windscreen, console, and open deck configuration. Whether your boat lives in a saltwater slip, on a trailer, or under a coastal shed, this cover preserves gelcoat, hardware, and upholstery from UV rays and salt spray.

Open-Deck Fishing Freedom Meets Comprehensive Hull Protection

The 251 XS CC’s philosophy is uncompromised fishing: the open deck without hardtop obstruction allows unrestricted casting, rod rigging, and crew movement. Your center console cover honors that philosophy by protecting every square foot of exposed structure without interfering with deck functionality. The full hull coverage means water sheds efficiently across the entire boat, and the weight load distributes evenly across multiple anchor points. The gelcoat, hardware, and upholstery—all vulnerable to UV and salt spray—stay protected during storage and extended mooring, meaning your boat retains its showroom appearance despite years of serious fishing use.

Scout’s Extended-Range Collection

Perfect Fit covers the complete Perfect Fit boat cover lineup, including Scout’s entire extended-range and center console family. If you’re considering the 251 XS CC or exploring other center console options, compare the Scout 231 XS center console cover for a slightly compact platform, or explore the Scout 355 T-Top cover for larger offshore hardtop models with premium cabin features. Whether you’re committed to the 251 XS’s versatile open deck or exploring Scout’s full collection, Perfect Fit has engineered a custom solution that fits your exact model and fishing mission.
